Misc. Notes | Ann (Anna) Bubnes birth is listed as April 11, 1905, Sheboygan. Her 1930 U.S. Census entry, however, says she was born in Pennsylvania. I looked at all the near matches for "Bubnes" in Sheboygan in the 1910 census, and found one family in Sheboygan, but they didn't have a daughter named Anne. I then checked Pennsylvania, and found almost two dozen families around Schuylkill county. It's probably not very important, since this couple doesn't have any living descendants; but sometimes discrepancies expose good stories.
Note also that the census has an entry for a "James Pokel," 23 years old. The only James Pokel at that time would have been Julius and Anna's son, who would have been 2 years old. The structure of the entry makes me think this was a copying error by the Census folks. |
