| Obituary | Martin A. Schneider, pastor of Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, Hilbert, Wis., passed away quietly Monday, March 14 [1966], at Calumet County Memorial Hospital. The funeral service was held Thursday, March 17, at St. Peter's. Burial was in Appleton. Pastors Herbert W. Baxmann [an inlaw of the Zank family] and Arthur J. Beversdorf officiated at the services of their old friend.
Pastor Schneider, the son of Pastor and Mrs. Arthur Schneider, was born and baptized in Wautoma, confirmed in Poy Sippi, and served congregations in Deerbrook, Summit Lake, Elcho, Town Richmond, Hilbert, and Town Chilton; all in Wisconsin. He was graduated from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, in 1926.
He is survived by his wife, Leonora nee Gutekunst; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Harry of Sheboygan; and two sons, James of Chicago, and John of Milwaukee; one sister, Mrs. Herman Braun of Fremont; and eight grandchildren.
The bulletin issued by his congregation reported that "the work the Lord had given him was finished, and the Lord took His servant home."20 |
